Projects Round-up

Looking through this readerless blog, it has occurred to me that I haven't posted project pictures in a LONG time. So, here's a roundup of what I've been working on lately! There's quite a bit. I've been rather remiss in keeping this updated.

1. The Bag Bag
Made to store the plastic bags we occasionally accumulate. Which, surprisingly, isn't too many. We generally use a lot of reusable grocery bags.

I think it looks like one of the Martians from Sesame Street.

2. Mum's Canadian Olympic Socks
I can finally blog about these, since now I can risk her maybe seeing this!

I worked on these for over a month. I made half of one sock before giving up on it as waaaay too big. Then I switched to another pattern, toe-up this time, and loved it. The reason it took so long was mostly figuring out my coloured details (I charted out all the red stuff myself) and figuring out how to strand it correctly (ended up doing it a little strangely, with several pieces and pulling backward and all. It was complicated.) But I finally got them done, only a week late for Mother's Day (originally planning on her birthday in APRIL! Oh man.) Everyone was duly impressed and I'm pretty proud of my first foray into socks. Also marked my first attempt at Magic Loop, which I don't think I quite did correctly, but OH am I ever sold on it.

3. Berries Cozy for Tendrils

This I made while working on yet another project with teeny LACE sized thread. I wanted something big and chunky and fast, so I charted up a design based on the one on the pot, and knit it up the next day. I like the colours, and figured out halfway through how to properly strand with two colours- one held Continental, one held English. Makes for proper tension!

4. Blue Rag Rug
It was a lot of fun to rip up sheets and knit on huge dowels (didn't want to pay for gigantor needles). It looks and works really nicely in our bathroom! (not pictured here, that's the back yard)

5. & 6. Nintendo Washcloths for Brad
Knit these up for Brad's upcoming birthday. I'm in principle against washcloth knitting unless they're necessary, but these were too cute (and quick!) to pass up.

7. Meg's Lazy Leaves
Almost halfway done, here's a peek at what's on the needles at the moment.

And that's the lot! I've been busy. With any luck, I'll be extracting data for my memoir starting tomorrow... So that will mean less time for knitting. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because I NEED to get started. Bad because, well, less time for knitting! But when I'm done, and the real funemployment begins, then, oh the things I'll knit!
