The pattern originally had the braid going vertically, but when I got to the end I realised it looked TINY, so I did a few more pattern repeats and seamed it up so that the braid is at the top running horizontally. I like! It's tight enough (I think) that the i-cord loop in the pattern isn't necessary, which is too bad, since I thought that was pretty cute. But it would have looked a little odd with the setup like it is.
I don't have an iPod, Nano or other, so was sizing it on only a little piece of cardboard that is the dimensions they claim the 3rd gen Nano is. I'm still afraid it's too small! Even my cardboard sizer seemed smaller than I remember iPods being. Oh well, the yarn is fairly stretchy. Failing that, she can put tic-tacs in it or something. Too bad she gave me her old phone, cause it fits it perfectly! (see photo)
Things about which I am annoyed:
-I should have done the bottom seam the opposite way that I did, that way the middle of the iPod could have better displayed the cable. Instead the trailing-off ends of the cable are more visible. Le sigh.
Things about which I am pleased:
-The yarn looks GREAT on the purl side. Usually I consider this the 'uglier' side of stockinette stitch, but I prefer it with this yarn. The subtle colour change is really nice. I'm thinking it would look really nice in seed stitch.. got my eyes on another iPod cozy that I can adapt for my camera...
Things learned:
-Cables! They're easy!
-Kitchener stitch! It's easy! Though not exactly invisible, probably because I was seaming a tight edge with little stitches? Dunno.
