My "knit a cozy for all co-workers" project is coming along. One guy quit recently for a job up north guiding snowshoeing trips, so I've got one less to do. Which means I've got three and a half to finish before Friday. If I choose my last three patterns wisely (aka worsted yarn, simple patterns) I'll have no trouble at all.
I just couldn't resist coming here to whine. Old habits die hard.
I HATE double-points. Ugh. The points get in the way and they clank around and I have to weave my tail of yarn in around them and they're ungainly and it takes TOO LONG. But this latest one I'm making calls for 3.75's and I onlly have one circular needle: too long for a cozy and too short for magic loop. Sigh.
Maybe one day I'll get some interchangeable needles. Gotta do my research for that though, if I'm going to drop 60$ on needles that I admittedly already have. I think I'd want metal tips, since I'm starting to notice a difference between the plastic ones I got from Nana and the metal ones I bought myself. Metal slides the yarn along much more nicely. A nice thin, flexible cable and smooth joins would also be ideal. If I could have the sizes stamped on them, that'd be a nice touch. And, I mean, if they were pretty that wouldn't hurt, but isn't necessary. Basically I want the perfect needles. Will have to go visit some yarn shops and check reviews online...
Okay. Back to cozy-making.
www.knitpicks.com has really nice interchangeable needles. :) They carry nickel-plated tips, laminated (coloured) birch tips, and clear acrylic tips. :D All the cables are compatible with the tips.
ReplyDeleteI recommend checking them out. I have some if you want a test go (if I can part with them).
AWESOME job on the cosies! Hopefully the co-workers appreciate them, now. :)
SEE YOU TONIGHT! YES.
